Students selected under reserve quota in coaching centers being harassed : Alleges parents | KNO

The parents, guardians of the students who have been selected by the Education Department for taking coaching in a private coaching centre (WAVE Institute Parraypora Srinagar) under 10% reserved quota alleges that they are being forced to pay Rs 5000 per student. They alleged that the coaching institution harassed their wards by not allowing them to attend the classes.

“It was really a miserable scene to see how these students were roaming here and there and how mentally, psychology depressed they were”, a representation issued by the parents reads. They said that instead of clear instructions from Directorate of School Education Kashmir (Copy of which is available with PTK), the Head of the WAVE institution is reluctant to obey the said orders. They appeals authorities to look into the matter, so that the precious time of such orphan, destitute, below poverty students is not wasted anymore and action is taken against such private Coaching Centers. Meanwhile the order reads, “In pursuance to desk’s order no. 1264 desk OF 2017 DATED 07/10/2017 order no. 1308 DESK of 2017 dated 18-1-2017 order number 1610 DESK of 2017 where under 252 coaching/tuition centers of Kashmir division were granted registration with the stipulation that 10% of the quota of the total in take capacity be reserved for 800 students”.

The order further reads that the heads of the private coaching centers are here by directed to induct the students selected under 10% reserved quota mentioned in the annexure to this order and also provide the free study material as per the streams mentioned “In case of any violation of norms the registration of coaching centre shall be terminated forthwith”, the order mentioned.
